Some advice about choosing classes!

Hey there!!

New students struggle to understand everything going on the first days at LC. Depending on your background, you may struggle to digest everything that Lewis & Clark expects you to understand even after your orientation. However, there is nothing wrong with that. You may need some extra time and support to understand how everything works here. That is why today I would like to give you some advice on choosing your classes, and my personal opinion about some amazing learning opportunities within our catalog.

First of all, make sure you get familiar with WebAdvisor. This platform is old but fairly simple to navigate. There are several tutorials that you will get in your email about how to register for classes. Make sure you watch all of these tutorials, it will be worth it in the long run and it will save you from an unorganized semester schedule.

I would personally recommend building your schedule as tight together as possible. Especially during your first semester, try to get those General Requirements out of the way and stuck them in a schedule that will allow you to explore the many opportunities that are waiting for you outside the classes. Doing this will also give you time and perspective in your liberal arts experience.

Some of the greatest classes that I have taken here are the next ones:

  • Introduction to Electronic Music - Jeff Leonard

  • Education in a Complex World - Grad campus Professors

  • Implementing Innovation - Entrepreneurship Department

  • Intercultural Competence - ESL Department

All of these classes deserve a whole entry describing the integral educational experience that comes alongside but also the professor’s quality in terms of pedagogical and interpersonal skills. Please make sure to pin these classes since some of them will count for your General Requirements. Also, who doesn’t want to take an Electronic Music class??
