A Rainy Weekend!

Well, this past weekend was an extremely rainy and cold one on Palatine Hill. It rained a ton on Saturday and Sunday and it was chilly as well on campus.

But, before the weekend, we had a sunny week on campus. The weather was great and people were going about their business as usual on campus. Midterms were finishing up and a lot of smiles and laughs were going around campus as well. Frisbees were being thrown on the quad, food trucks were on campus as well, and the vibes were on point. I spent my week relaxing with my friends and we were all enjoying the weather as well.

From a student standpoint, life is good and it's time to chill out a bit before the time to get studying for finals.

From a baseball player's standpoint, things are getting a little harder. Keeping up with schoolwork while playing games during the weekend and weekdays, practicing every day, and lifting multiple days throughout the week can be a grind. My workload was getting pretty heavy and baseball wasn't getting any easier. It's the middle of our season now and we are in the running to make it to our conference playoffs for the first time in a long time.

This weekend we played Willamette and we won 1 out of 3 games. The two games that we lost were close ones that just slipped out of our grasp. This upcoming week we will be playing Linfield on Wednesday night and George Fox on the weekend for a three-game series.

Balancing life, school, and a sport can be tricky when you go to a D3 college or university. The schoolwork is rigorous, the sport is a lot harder than high school, and there isn't a ton of time for social activities outside of your sport or school. But, being a student-athlete can bring memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. You also learn to balance many things at once and you learn how to manage your time wisely.

Being at Lewis and Clark for almost two years now has made me realize how lucky I am to go to such a prestigious institution and how blessed I am to be where I am at this moment. So I encourage you to take a moment out of your day to say thank you to someone that has made your life easier or someone who has supported you along your journey. Thanks for reading my blog and I hope you will come back soon!!
