Copeland Quad Life

Hello everyone! Beautiful trees in Tryon This past week has been unusual for Portland - we’ve had a week of sunshine and clear skies. I have been soaking up the sun while it’s here. Some people thought the 55-degree weather was a bit chilly but I thought it was great running weather. I started running in Tryon State Park which is located just a few blocks from campus. It has great trails to run and it is really nice to surround yourself in nature after a day full of classes. In this post I am going to share my dorm experience so far: The bridge that connects D wing to E & F wing I currently live in a quad in Copeland Hall. I really like living in Copeland for the most part. Copeland is the largest dorm on campus and it has an A,B,C,D,E,F, and G wing which are all connected by hallways and even an enclosed bridge thing. Each wing is a little different and kind of has a different vibe to it just based on the mix of people living there each year. I live in D wing

These past few weeks have been crazy...

This last month was our last month of Wintersemester here in Munich. I had to write two final papers (totaling around 25 pages), do a final presentation and take four tests all in German. It was extremely difficult but I finished it! It was more difficult than I thought it would be but once I finished I felt so accomplished especially because I was able to do it all in German. It really shows how far a person can improve and learn a language in just a few months. Now I am done taking all of my tests etc. and as all of my friends back home are starting spring semester at Lewis & Clark I have just started my two month vacation. I have vacation until the beginning of April when Summer semester starts (almost at the end of spring semester for all the people back home). The University schedule is completely different than the one at LC. Some people are taking these two months to travel. The Ravine

One of my favorite places on campus is the Ravine. If you’ve looked into Lewis and Clark at all you’ve probably seen pictures of a beautiful bridge on campus. This bridge goes across a natural ravine that separates the academic and residential parts of campus. The ravine is relatively small and you’d barely even notice it if all you do is walk the bridge on your way to class. But I’ve come to really love our little backyard forest. I go there to eat lunch, to take walks at night, to take naps in a hammock. One evening my boyfriend and I were meeting at the bridge. It was cold and foggy, but I could still see down into the Ravine. That's when we saw something swoop down onto a tree branch about fifty yards away. It turned its head to look at us and my heart leaped. It was a barred owl. The one whose call sounds like “who cooks for you?”. We had been hearing its call for a few weeks at that point, but this was the first time we’d seen it. We continued to watch it for about fifteen
